THE CIRCUS

We went with my mom and dad (Gigi and Pop) to see the circus.  This was probably the neatest thing we have taken Luke to do because he truly oooohed and aaaahed through the entire thing! We saw so many things! Elephants, Tigers, Motorcycles riding in a cage, stunt men, men on stilts, tightrope walkers...you name it, it was there!! By far Lukes favorite was the Elephants.  Pop bought our tickets so we could go and surprised us with really great seats! So Luke really got to see the Elephants up close! We also were able to meet some of the performers before the show started.  Luke got to pick out one surprise (or prize as he calls it) and he of course picked an elephant that now goes everywhere with us.  Pop also bought a video of the show and now everytime Luke goes to visit Gigi and Pop he wants to watch the Circus on the TV.  When we took him we thought he may or may not like it at such a young age, but we were pleasantly surprised that he NEVER took his eyes off the stage.  This was truly a fun day to watch as a parent!

GO METS

In July the Mets came to town and you know what that means... it means Daddy went to all 3 Mets games and Luke and I joined him for the Sunday game along with our friends Carrie and Jacob and Lukes little friend Brady.   It was SO SO hot, but we lucked out with seats under some shade.   We had a good time watching baseball and eating ballpark food!! We even took Luke to the kids area and let him play around a little bit.  It was a great day and I know Daddy is so proud that Luke has offically attended his first Mets game!

Trip to San Antonio

At the beginning of August Luke and I went down to the San Antonio area to visit my friend Mandi from college.  We had so much fun! We got to experience SO many new things in just the short 3 days that we were there. First we got there just in time for dinner which was Fresh caught Halibut from Alaska(where Mark and Mandi used to live) it was yummy! Luke got to spend some time in the back yard playing with Mandi's kids Donnie and Jacey.  He had a ball playing on their swing set, riding around in their motorized Jeep, and playing with rocks. (yes he is all boy!)

The next morning we woke up and had Moose sausage....YES MOOSE! It was also killed in Alaska....this was very adventerous eating for Luke and I!!! We packed the kids some snacks and then we were off for a fun day at Sea World.  The kids had a blast! They met all the Seasame Street characters, watched the Shamu show, Fed Dolphins, and played in the splash park. I was taking Luke on all the kids rides when he looked at me and said Mommy go see the whales! I guess he had a point.. after all we were at Sea World and I was trying to make him ride the carasouel when all he wanted to do was see the Whales!! So off we went to see Shamu's show! It was really great and he could not quit clapping and saying ooohhhhh so I think he enjoyed it! We were there most of the day and Luke missed his nap, but he was having so much fun I don't think he noticed:)
The last day we were there we went to float in the river.  Well due to the Texas drought when we got to the river there was hardly any water so we let the kids play in the river and Luke again had most of his fun throwing rocks.
This was such a great trip for us! Luke had a great time and Mandi, Mark, and I laughed about a ton of old college memories! We laughed about how times have changed after having kids and how even though life is a lot harder it is so much better.  This was a great trip!

Virginia Trip in July

We took a trip to Virginia in July and were able to see almost all of our families.  We were able to see Websters Parents, Sister, Grandparents, Aunt and Uncle as well as our niece and on my side of the family we were able to see my grandmother and my Aunt and Uncle.  It was nice to see so many people in one trip! We first stopped in Martinsville and visited websters Grandparents.  We were able to have Fathers Day lunch with Grandad which was really nice.  We stayed with Uncle Rich and Aunt Jane while we were there and had lots of fun relaxing, riding around Smith Mountain Lake( which is a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains), and most fun of all was putting together Grandads book of the stories of his life:)  We had a nice time with them and then made our way to Roanoke to spend some time with my Mimi and my Aunt and Uncle.  Visiting Mimi was great its always good to see her and see the smile that our son brings to her face.  Time with Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Mike was also good! Luke watched for deer in their backyard, helped Aunt Carolyn Garden and most fun of all learned how to catch lightening bugs which was one of my favorite childhood memories from Roanoke. All in all it was a nice trip to see all of our family!

Aunt Carolyn found a place that had gluten free ice cream cones.   So, Luke was able to have his first ice cream cone!!! With sherbert instead of ice cream since we are also allergic to milk:)
